The term investor was much used in the past when investing in the stock market was pretty much a sure thing, much like real estate, of course that has all changed now, yet stock brokers and mutual fund managers still like to use that term.
Why?, because they make their money off the fee’s they charge for managing your money, not off trading profits. Can anyone name a stock that you invest in today and forget about for 10 years, never look at it, and expect a 100% return over that time period?, I think not!.
Thats why I believe the terms “buy and hold” and “investing” as far as the stock market is concerned are history.
Yes you can make good money in the stock market but not by investing or buy and hold.
If you are a conservative trader or investor you would do well to start thinking about becoming a “position trader“, this is where you buy (or go short) for a few months up to maybe 6-9 months.

As far as the financial markets are concerned, if you are investing money usually stocks are the only market that you would invest in, because of their relative stability. You would not normally consider investing in either the futures or forex market because of the lower stability and lower government regulation and protection.
