I know it varies from case to case scenario. But may I ask, on average, how long will you hold onto a stock? Moreover, would you prefer to use technical analysis over fundamental analysis for day trading?

<<<How long will you normally hold onto a stock?>>>
On average, years. There are stocks I have only owned for a few days and others that I have owned for over three decades.

Normally, fundamental analysis.

IF I were day trading, I would use technical analysis almost exclusively.
I only use technical analysis, and look to capture short-term price swings which typically run for 1-4 weeks.
For day trading, the only thing that will be useful is technical analysis. Not sure what stocks you day trade, but you’d almost certainly be better off day trading stock index futures.
there is a big difference between investments and speculations.
- investment means you holf for atleast 6 months nad try to take advantage of value built by the company.
- speculation means you hold for less and try to take advantage of pricechanges of the share.
people who speculate tend to prefer technical analyses. this is because TA tells you more about what a stock is doing on the short term. you can discover trends identify them and predect on the basis of them.
people who invest tend to prefer fundamental analyses, because value is built buy essentially healthy companies over time. sohrt term pricechanges are not interesting to the investor. certainty is. you want the company you invested in to still be here in a few years.
so in short. the longer you hold, the more interest youll have in fundamentals.
Few week or months, looking at the technicals. The only stocks that I’ve held for years and years and really don’t look at are my tobacco stocks.
